The remote start function works well.
I asked for the control’s AUX button to be programmed to control the auto-open and -close back hatch of my 2018 Subaru Forester. I spent a bit more for the AUX function and its installation. Sadly, that didn't work out.
Normally, my car’s hatch automatically opens and closes by pushing a button on the original key. The car's doors do not have to be unlocked. The button communicates with the hatch at some distance, and even through my home's stone wall.
After the Clifford product was installed, its remote control did not consistently open the back hatch. Also, when it did work, all the car's doors had to be unlocked first and I had to stand next to the hatch. The remote would not auto-close the hatch. The car's original key similarly malfunctioned.
I asked the vendor to dismantle the AUX button. The vendor dismantled the entire remote and told me to take my car to the dealer to have the hatch release serviced. There is no need for service because the hatch functions properly with the Clifford remote start dismantled. Hopefully, when I return the car to the vendor for the Clifford system to be turned back on -- without the AUX function on the hatch -- the hatch will continue to work properly.
The remote-start vendor had told me that the manufacturer had not written a program for the AUX button to control the hatch on a 2018 Subaru Forester and the vendor had to write the program. Clearly, the vendor made some programming errors.
